Purpose – The aim of this study is to adapt into Turkish the “Conflicts Between Work and Family Relations” subdimension of the Gender Role Conflict Scale developed by O’Neil et al. (1986). As this subdimension conceptually covers conflicts extending beyond the work domain, it is referred to as the Work–Life Conflict Scale in this adaptation study.
Design/methodology/approach – In this study, data were obtained by using a survey method from 290 people who are actively working in different sectors and institutions throughout Türkiye and AMOS & SPSS programs were used to analyze the data.
Results – As a result of the validity analysis conducted, the original one sub-dimensioned structure of the scale was confirmed after a modification (e1 and e2 covariance). For reliability, internal consistency tests of the items were conducted, also the measurement invariance of the scale by gender was tested. As a result of all analyses, sufficient evidence was found related to the scale is valid and reliable.
Discussion – It’s considered that being one-dimensional and having few items the scale not only provides researchers with the opportunity to easily apply but also will provide the opportunity to measure work-life conflict from a broader perspective by comprising the work-family and work-nonfamily life conflict.
