Abstract

Purpose – The aim of this research is to determine the impact of managers' and teachers' attachment styles on job satisfaction and organizational commitment.
Design/methodology/approach – The overall research consists of education administrators and teachers working in all public high school, secondary school, primary school and kindergarten educational institutions in the province of Isparta in the 2023-2024 education period. Of the forms received from the participants, 805 appropriate forms were evaluated. SPSS was used to determine the effect between variables. Correlation and regression analysis were used to test the relationships and effects between variables
Results – As a result of the research, it was seen that when the secure attachment style of the participants increased, their job satisfaction levels increased, whereas when the avoidant attachment and anxious-ambivalent attachment style increased, their job satisfaction levels decreased. It was observed that attachment styles predicted 22% of the job satisfaction perception, secure attachment predicted 26% of the adaptation dimension of the organizational commitment variable, secure attachment predicted 12% of the identification dimension of the organizational commitment variable, and secure attachment predicted 15% of the internalization dimension of the organizational commitment variable.
Discussion – The findings reveal a strong interaction between attachment styles and job satisfaction and organisational commitment. A positive correlation was found between secure attachment style and job satisfaction levels; however, an inverse correlation was found between avoidant and anxious-ambivalent attachment styles and job satisfaction levels. It was determined that there is a direct correlation between the secure attachment style and the identification and internalization levels of organizational commitment, but an inverse correlation with the accommodation levels. It was found that there was a direct correlation between the avoidant and anxious-ambivalent attachment styles and the conformity levels of organisational commitment, but an inverse correlation with the identification and internalization levels. A review of the literature reveals a positive interaction between organisational commitment and job satisfaction, but no studies have been found examining attachment styles in relation to organisational commitment and job satisfaction.
